Wondering what a Gray line is? Google search will definitely help you.Let me give you
some quick information.Gray line is a service group that runs hopon-hopoff buses for
travellers in New york. Gray line buses are the double decker buses with open top.
New York is a comsopoliton tourist place. People come from all over the world.
Whenever we travel to see places, we always have less time. This was the case even with us.
Hum Paanch (We 5-Mithuna,Rekha,Avni,Nimi and ATM)were in New york for the weekend.
Amit who was heading to see his friend in Jersey drove us.He is a bundle of information
when it comes to a to-do list of a city .He gave us a to do list for NYC. He mentioned
about this bus tour in his list. We didnot have enough time and energy to walk around
all the sight seeing places. We chose bus tour to cover as many places to see.
We stayed at Shurthi’s place (Mithuna’s Cousin) in Jersey. Commute is just so easy around there.
The best way to commute from Jersey to New York is Path trains . Since we staying close to
Journal Square we took path train from port authority close by. One way ride costs $2.
We reached 33rd street on 6th Avenue in New york. Gray line tickets are sold at all major sight
seeing place. We picked one near Hotel Pennsylvania. Tickets for 2 days on Gray line is $49.
This covers Downtown, Midtown, Uptown and Night tour loops of New york.
Gray line buses have stops at almost all major sight seeing places. Guide on the bus gives trivia
and facts about the places. All you have to do is pick the place of choice, hop off, go around and
come back. Hop in again for next place.Other option is to sit through the entire loop and then pick
places of your choice to visit. It takes 2-3 hrs to complete the loop without hopping off.
We could only do Downtown and Night Tour loop. Trust me it is a different experience. Worth trying.
You get to see places you would’nt have visited. China town,Korean street, Brooklyn,
drive on Manhattan brigde, old buildings, best places to eat and lot of other information.Buses are
not allowed on Brooklyn bridge because of its height clearance.
Night loop on Gray line is not to be missed. New york is all about high raise buildings. These buildings
are brigtly lit during night. That makes the city look beautiful and vibrant in the night. Buses go on
Manhatan bridge. That is the best place to capture and see the Manhattan skyline. It is a spectacular view.
A little advice to travellers, If you do not have a private vehicle to visit Statue of liberty from
Jersey side, be prepared to walk atleast 2 miles. To reach Liberty state park from Jersey take a
path train to Newport .At Newport ,change to take a ligth rail to Liberty State park. Cost $2.20.
This rail is a good one.Neat and nice.
After you get down at Liberty State park. They mentioned about Shuttle service at stop. We didnt
find any shuttles. Not sure about the frequency. We chose to walk down. It is tiring. Be aware of
this fact. Alternatively, you can choose to take a ferry from Battery park at New York. It is free.
They charge you $16 if you want to get down at Liberty island.
We girls did drop into a few malls on 5th Ave. It is a best place for window shopping.
You can also find some affordable brands like Uni Qlo, H&M.
2 days is definitely not enough to see New york.We did well .
